‘The Cobra’ is not one to mince his words when it comes to his views on other fighters and he has had some pointed criticism of Joshua’s performances in the past.
So too was he unimpressed when Joshua left Rob McCracken, the man who guided Froch throughout his career to multiple world titles, and had some criticism of his training methods.
Now Froch has revealed on his YouTube channel that the pair had a heated message exchange over WhatsApp.
“He called me a prick. I went straight back at him, who the fuck are you calling a prick? That’s what I sent him. He came back and told me he doesn’t like me. He doesn’t like that I’m critical, but it’s constructive criticism.”
He then mentioned Joshua sending him a video of him laying out cash on a bed.
“He’s lost a bit of class. He started personal insults and mentioned my nose again. Where he went was it’s all about the money. He thought he pulled an ace card by saying he’d earned more money than me. Where’s the humble guy gone? Stay humble. I like that guy, I really don’t think you’re all about the money. Maybe you are, maybe you’re spoiled.”
Finally, Froch went in on Joshua’s upset stoppage loss against Andy Ruiz Jr back in 2019.
“Let’s talk about levels in terms of legacy and wins. A little fat kid from Mexico made him quit for f***s sake. He got punched from pillar to post. The referee’s looking at him and what’s he done? He’s quit on his feet, that is embarrassing. Something The Cobra would never ever do, and you can take that to the bank.”
In the screenshot, Froch is also seen inviting ‘AJ’ to ‘do something about it’ when he says he thinks he’s a ‘p***k.’
Joshua is now focused on his next world title shot against Daniel Dubois in September.
