During his One Direction days, Harry Styles was known for his luscious locks that almost reached his shoulders. In 2016, the singer chopped his hair for his role in Christopher Nolan’s film Dunkirk.

In May 2016, the singer posted a photo of him holding his chopped hair in his hand while giving the camera a thumbs up with the caption, “Whoops. #Littleprincesstrust” causing a frenzy in the fandom. Little Princess Trust is a charity that provides real hair wigs to children who lost their hair to cancer.

As per its website, more than 8,000 wigs have been donated and the organization has also invested £5 million into childhood cancer research as of 2022.

In June, the Little Princess Trust posted a photo of multiple cardboard boxes with the caption,

“Thank you @harrystyles for donating your hair. It left last week along with other fantastic hair donations, on its way to the wig manufacturer.”

Why did Harry Styles chop off his hair in 2016?

Harry Styles chopped off his hair in 2016 to donate it to Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to kids who lost their hair due to cancer. This isn’t the first time Harry Styles has shown his support to cancer patients. In 2014, Harry visited Campbell Hoyt, a young girl battling Ependymoma, a form of brain and spine cancer at her home.

In 2016, Harry, as per Daily Mail, was also known to have contacted the family of a four-year-old girl, Jessica Whelan, who was battling terminal cancer after her photograph went viral.

The girl’s father, Andy Whelan took to Facebook to narrate the story,

“Well that was a surreal telephone call… An unknown number I answered for it to only be HARRY STYLES ringing from USA. He wants to do a FaceTime or video recording for Jessica! The way she is at the moment I have told him that she would benefit more from a recording which he has said he will do for her and email to us!”

In September 2022, a 19-year-old woman, Kaylee battling stage four kidney cancer made a wish to attend a Harry Styles concert. Kaylee’s mom bought three pit tickets to three Harry Styles concerts at the Moody Center. At the concert, Kaylee threw a t-shirt with a note on stage which Harry caught and held throughout an entire song.

Narrating the experience to Fox 7 Austin, Kaylee said,

“He went, and he caught it and held it throughout the entire song, and he held it up to his face, and it was like he was dedicating the entire song to me and at the end, he looked over at me and held up the shirt and said, ‘thank you, Kaylee’ and I just flipped out.”

While her mother Kim Cooper, added,

“It wasn’t just like oh he caught the shirt, it was, I felt like there was a connection and that his heart was in it.”

Kaylee explained the experience as “unreal” when Harry Styles noticed her and said her name out loud in the microphone. She said she was “just crying the whole night, I couldn’t stop crying.”
