Carol Burnett reunited with Dick Van Dyke for a career milestone.
On Thursday, June 20, the actress, 91, got her hands and feet plastered into the ground outside the area’s famous TCL Chinese Theatre. Burnett was joined by Van Dyke, 98, for the occasion.
Van Dyke appeared alongside the Hollywood legend on The Carol Burnett Show, which ran for 11 seasons from 1967 to 1978. They’ve also been longtime friends throughout their respective illustrious careers in Hollywood.
The two posed for photos together outside of the theater, as Van Dyke beamed for his pal and her accomplishment. In one shot, Carol held onto his arm and smiled, while another showed them posing with Bob Mackie.
Burnett’s Palm Royale costars Laura Dern and Bob Odenkirk as well as talk show host Jimmy Kimmel also spoke during the ceremony.
Following the event, Kimmel, 56, shared on social media, “Thank you Carol Burnett for giving me the honor of honoring you at your exceptionally well-deserved and long overdue handprint & footprint ceremony this morning in Hollywood.”
The ceremony was also attended by Palm Royal star Allison Janney as well as Bill Hader, Jane Lynch, Lisa Ann Walter and Maya Rudolph.
MONICA SCHIPPER/GETTY
For decades, Burnett has been making audiences laugh and has picked up six Emmys, six Golden Globes, one Grammy and a Kennedy Center Honor along the way. While reflecting on hitting 90-years-old in April 2023, the comedian reflected on the surreal nature of her career.”
“I was pretty much of a quiet student all through grammar school, junior high and Hollywood High,” Burnett told PEOPLE of how she discovered she was a comic. “I would kid around with my friends, the neighborhood kids, stuff like that. But I never really thought about it until I got to UCLA and I was in an acting class. A lot of the kids at the class were doing heavy, dramatic stuff and I thought, I can’t do that. So I picked something light and they laughed. That’s when the bug bit.”

Though she felt like “late bloomer, she eventually found international fame, but not without facing a few obstacles. Burnett went on to headline The Carol Burnett Show for 11 seasons and Carol & Company for another two, starred as Miss Hannigan in 1982’s Annie and had memorable roles in All My Children, Fresno, Mad About You and Better Call Saul. She’s still working and has most recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale.
“I made people laugh, made them feel good when they might have been down,” she said of the legacy she wants to leave behind. “In my fan mail, many say it was the only time the family would get together, to watch and laugh. And that sometimes they were lonesome and were cheered up by our show. That’s a good feeling.”
