65-year-old singer Andrea Bocelli, who was accompanied by his kids, Matteo and Virginia, on Friday, was celebrating his three decades in the music industry. According to The Express Tribune, Bocelli further reminisced about Luciano Pavarotti, who was the first to discover his talent back in 1992. He spoke about Pavarotti’s famous 1991 show at Hyde Park, which was also attended by Princess Diana.

“I remember watching it on television, Pavarotti was incredible. The sheer amount of people and the atmosphere—it was just so moving,” said tenor Andrea Bocelli.

The Italian tenor spoke about his nervousness shortly before the beginning of his Friday performance. He further described the performance as “historic” and how much he was looking forward to the event.

For the unversed, Virginia had also been making waves in the music industry. Talking about the young singer, Andrea Bocelli said that her singing made him extremely happy. He further added that he hoped Virginia would get the freedom in the future to do what she wanted to do. Virginia also spoke in the interview before the show. She said,

“It’s pretty much normal [singing with my dad]… I usually do at least one or two songs and have got used to it now.”

Virginia added that she was only 8 years old when she had her first official performance with her father. She further added that it was an unexpected and unplanned move. Andrea then shared that he had to sing Hallelujah, which included several English words. The Italian tenor then asked Virginia to sing with him.

Andrea also frequently performs with his son, Matteo. On March 10, 2024, he and his son Matteo performed Time to Say Goodbye, the song that catapulted him to international fame, during the annual “In Memoriam” tribute at the 96th Academy Awards.

After the Friday show at Hyde Park, Andrea Bocelli has plans to continue his tour across the US and Europe.
