The country star is currently in the midst of his ‘Standing Room Only’ tour
Tim McGraw is making his Standing Room Only tour a family affair.
On Wednesday, June 19, the country star, 57, shared an Instagram Reel where he revealed his nephew, Timothy Wayne, will be supporting him on the remaining Standing Room Only tour dates.
“He may be my nephew… but he’s the real deal!!” McGraw captioned the post. “Just listen to him sing the hell outta this song. Excited to have @timothywaynemusic open up this last run of shows!”
the video, the “Just to See You Smile” performer can be seen asking the Louisiana State University student if he knows the Keith Whitley’s 1988 classic “Don’t Close Your Eyes.”
“Don’t close your eyes /Let it be me / Don’t pretend it’s him / In some fantasy /Darling, just once let yesterday go / And you’ll find more love / Than you’ve ever known / Just hold me tight / When you love me tonight / And don’t close your eyes,” Wayne, who can be seen sporting a backward baseball cap and gray T-shirt, croons the chorus with a smoky lilt.
McGraw then takes over singing duties: “Maybe I’ve been a fool / Holding on all this time / Lyin’ here in your arms / Knowing he’s in your mind / But I keep hoping some day / That you’ll see the light / Let it be me tonight / Don’t close your eyes.”
The “Something Like That” musician announced his headlining Standing Room Only tour in July 2023.
“I always want to deliver the best possible concert I can for the fans,” said McGraw in a statement at the time. “We’ve got some really special plans to make this the biggest and the best tour we’ve ever done.”
The arena tour, produced by Live Nation, hit arenas across more than 30 cities including Atlanta, Chicago and Philadelphia. It kicked off on Thursday, March 14 in Jacksonville, Fla.
