Taylor Swift and Gigi Hadid’s friendship has a nice ring to it.

When Cece Fein Hughes received an Instagram DM from supermodel Gigi Hadid — a long-time follower of her company account Cece Jewellery — hoping to purchase a custom-made signet ring for her best friend Taylor Swift, the British jeweler got to work.

“This wasn’t our usual bespoke process — I had actually already pre-designed this sketch for our social media campaign where followers guess the celebrity pet,” Hughes tells PEOPLE of Swift’s ring featuring her cat Benjamin Button on the front. “Gigi has been following our journey for a while now so when she saw the post she instantly DM’d us to purchase Taylor’s ring.”

The 18-karat yellow gold and pearl embellished ring “incorporates all of [Swift’s] favorite things” and reflects “her immense success and constant travels,” according to the jeweler.

“We wanted it to symbolize her favorite things that could always stay close to her, no matter the distance,” Hughes says about the inspiration behind the ring. “It features her famous cat Benjamin Button who graced the cover of TIME magazine, there was a nod to Travis Kelce with his jersey number and her lucky number 13.”

Swift, 34, also has other jewelry dedicated to Kelce, 34, making the ring the latest in her collection. The numbers are surrounded by flaming hearts, swords and half-moon shapes on both sides.

The ring also has “TTPD” engraved on the inside, a reference to her latest chart-topping album The Tortured Poets Department. “That was a secret engraving requested by Gigi herself,” Hughes says.

Hughes has only positive things to say about working on the ring with Hadid, 29. “Gigi has been so sweet and thoughtful throughout and added her own personal tweaks to the ring to make it even more special for Taylor,” the Cece Jewellery owner tells PEOPLE.

While she hasn’t heard from Swift yet (“We know she is a very busy lady,” the jeweler says), Hughes has received positive feedback.

“Gigi said she loved it so that means the world to us. We are eagerly waiting to try and catch a glimpse of her wearing it, so fingers crossed we see it soon.”

Hadid let her appreciation be known by commenting on Hughes’ Instagram post of the ring, writing, “It’s perfect ☺️ thank u x.”

Reflecting on the experience of making the ring, Hughes says, “It was an honor to design a piece for one of the world’s most famous pets, belonging to the most iconic woman of our time.”

“The fact that it was a thoughtful gift from Gigi to Taylor makes it even more special. I was over the moon to do this piece and it just means the world to me that Taylor Swift has a little bit of Cece Jewellery in her mega jewelry collection.”
