Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have once again captured the public’s affection by throwing a joyous birthday party for their daughter, Princess Lilibet, affectionately known as Lili, at their Montecito residence.  The little princess, born in sunny California, was surrounded by love and joy as she marked her third year of life.

Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor bears a name rich in royal history, tying her to two iconic figures in the British monarchy.

Her first name, Lilibet, is derived from the family nickname of Queen Elizabeth, while her middle name, Diana, serves as a heartfelt tribute to her late grandmother, Princess Diana of Wales.  This blend of names is a significant gesture, symbolizing the couple’s continued respect for the heritage they come from, despite their step back from royal duties in 2020.

Harry and Meghan’s bold move to the Duchess’s home country with their then five-year-old son, Prince Archie, represented a turning point in their lives.  The couple sought to build a life of independence and purpose, focusing on their family and humanitarian work.  Their Archewell Foundation’s announcement of Lilibet’s birth on its website was a testament to their efforts to merge their past royal ties with their new American life.

Recently, during their trip to Nigeria, Meghan couldn’t help but proudly reflect on her children’s growth and their budding personalities.  She shared with the world that Lili and Archie are “very chatty” and “absolutely adorable.”  Such candid moments offer a glimpse into their private life and the warmth that binds this family together.
