Two months after releasing his Drake diss track, Not Like Us, Kendrick Lamar released the music video for the song on Thursday, July 4, 2024. The music video celebrates the West Coast and takes a few digs at Drake and his OVO crew. The video begins with Kendrick doing pushups, allegedly referencing Drake’s diss track targeting Lamar, called Push Ups.

The music video for Not Like Us then featured a few owls resting on Kendrick’s arms, and then in cages before he smashes an owl piñata. This shot mainly references Drake’s OVO label, which has a similar bird as their logo. As the scene comes, a disclaimer is also added to the screen, stating:

Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free directed the video, which also features prominent West Coast figures like Mustard, Tommy the Clown, DeMar DeRozan, and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. The music video also shows Lamar’s fiancé, Whitney Alford, and their two kids. The family is together as Kendrick and Whitney dance and their kids play in the background. This seems to be about Drake’s song, Family Matters.

Kendrick Lamar released the audio of Not Like Us on May 4, 2024

The video for Kendrick Lamar’s song Not Like Us has been going viral since its release, with fans sharing their reactions about it on social media. The rapper released the original audio on May 4, 2024, with the music video being released on July 4, 2024. When it was released, the audio created a buzz among Kendrick’s fans, who loved that the track was dissing Drake.

While the beef between the two rappers has been going on for a decade, it reignited in October 2023, when Drake released the song, First Person Shooter, in collaboration with J. Cole. This prompted Lamar to also release a diss track, as he released Like That in March 2024.

The rap war then formally began, as Drake responded to Kendrick Lamar’s Like That by releasing Push Ups, and Taylor Made Freestyle in April 2024. Kendrick Lamar then responded to Champagne Papi through his song, Euphoria and 6:16 in LA. Drake responded to Lamar by releasing Family Matters in May, just before Lamar released Not Like Us.

Since Not Like Us was released, it has become an instant hit, as it has topped many charts in multiple countries. These included Australia, Canada, the USA, New Zealand, and even many European countries. It was also the number-one song on the Billboard Global 100 in May.

In just hours after the release of the song on YouTube, it became an instant hit amongst the masses and Lamar fans. The song reached close to 7,000,000 views with thousands of likes and comments. While many social media users appreciated the video, others bashed Kendrick Lamar for dissing Drake again. However, at the moment, Drake has not reacted to the video.
