Prince William and Prince Harry have reportedly not spoken to one another since September 2022, and their “bitter feud” with one another seems to have “no end in sight.” One new report sheds some insight into how it likely isn’t just Meghan Markle causing most of the rift.

“William and Harry were such fun-loving children,” said Ken Wharfe, the former protection officer to the childhood princes. “They loved to play fight and when they hit each other they meant it.”

Prince William used to reportedly become annoyed with Prince Harry’s ‘acting out’ when they were children of the Crown.

“Sometimes when I tried to break up the fights I was on the receiving end of their punches, they’ll vouch for that,” he added.

Wharfe spoke to author Robert Jobson during the latter’s research for his 2013 book The New Royal Family: Prince George, William and Kate, The Next Generation. The tome was published around the time Kate, the then-Duchess of Cambridge, was expecting Prince George in July of that year.

Wharfe added about the newborn future king: “This baby will have an amazing childhood, of that I am sure. But it will be different, of course. For one thing, he or she will have to get used to having an armed Scotland Yard personal protection officer watching over them night and day.”

He further observed how “Prince William’s own childhood is the blue-print he and Kate will base their own family life on.”

“They pulled no punches when they did, I can tell you,” Wharfe stated. “They would fight dirty, too, thinking nothing of punching you where it really hurts. But Diana encouraged it. She thought it was good for them to just be boys.”

This unique insight comes amid recent reports showcasing just how cold the rift between the regal princes has become by 2024.

Based on Harry’s book and the 2022 Netflix documentary, which saw Meghan mock curtseying to the late Queen Elizabeth II, it is believed the king-in-waiting “may never speak to his brother again.”
