Taylor Swift was prioritizing safety during her latest Eras Tour performance.

On Friday, June 7, Travis Kelce’s girlfriend halted the performance in Edinburgh, Scotland, to notify security staff that a person in the audience needed assistance. She didn’t start singing again until the matter was resolved.

The incident took place during Taylor Swift’s acoustic set, popularly referred to as “surprise song o’clock,” in which the pop sensation plays unscheduled songs from her entire catalog that aren’t on the setlist.

While performing her Midnights song “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” on Friday night, the singer saw fans in the audience who needed assistance and refused to begin the song until they received it.

In a video that was leaked to X, Taylor Swift was shown strumming her guitar while pointing to the location of the fans who needed help and requesting that the event staff take care of them.

“I’m just gonna keep playing till somebody helps them,” she said in a sing-songy voice, telling the crowd, “We’re not gonna keep singing,” and that she would instead keep talking about the fans in need until they received attention.

“Just let me know when [you’re good],” she said, before quipping, “I can do this all night!”

“You’re good?” she said once the situation was handled, before yelling out a celebratory “Awesome!” and getting right back into the song.

Throughout her world tour, Swift even stopped her performance several times to notify security distressed fans in the audience, hoping they would receive help as soon as possible. With its innovative lighting schemes and laser effects, the Eras Tour showcased cutting-edge technology. Swift has previously talked about how much preparation goes into more than just her performance.

“I was completely terrified to go on tour this time because I didn’t know how we were going to keep 3 million fans safe over seven months,” Swift told Elle in 2019. “There was a tremendous amount of planning, expense, and effort put into keeping my fans safe. My fear of violence has continued into my personal life.”

Last year, Swift interrupted her performance of “Bad Blood” during a May 2023 Eras show to call off a security guard who had gotten into an altercation with a fan.
