TRAVIS Kelce has been told to carry on playing for the Kansas City Chiefs for years to come by teammate Chris Jones.

Kelce recently said he wanted to play “until the wheels fall off” and that is music to the ears of Jones, who suggests the tight end should retire when he does.

That is a telling comment as defensive tackle Jones, 29, has signed a new five-year extension to remain with the Chiefs this offseason.

Kelce, 34, has been a huge part of the recent success for the Chiefs and Jones wants him to deliver the goods well into the future.

And he told reporters that he won’t even countenance any thoughts of retirement for Kelce.

“Once you begin to think about things like that, you’re getting to feed the mind those types of thoughts,” Jones.

“I don’t even want my mind to even go that far to the ‘R’ word.”

“He’s got like four or five more years [left], and what is he talking about, right?

“We can’t let TK go. We’ve got to retire together. Give me at least six, four years, then we’ll talk about it.”

Jones was responding to Kelce’s comments earlier this week, when members of the media questioned him on retirement.

“I really can’t put a timeframe on that,” he said.

“[I’ll play] until the wheels fall off. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen anytime soon.”

This is a golden period for the Chiefs, who have created the NFL’s newest dynasty in recent times.

Andy Reid’s team saw off the San Francisco 49ers in Miami in 2020 to win a first Super Bowl for the franchise in half a century.

They followed that up in style the last two seasons with two more triumphs in the NFL’s biggest game.

The Chiefs came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023.

And in February, the Chiefs were on the comeback trail again as they saw off the 49ers in Las Vegas to win another Super Bowl.

They will be going for an historic three-peat when the 2024 season kicks off in September.

Kelce recently joked with his brother Jason that he would “never” retire.

Travis admitted it was tough to watch Jason’s retirement speech this year as he retired after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“I’m never doing it. Not after that speech dude,” Travis said.

“No, f**k that. I don’t want to go through that.
