Count “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair as one of many sports fans enjoying the growing basketball rivalry between Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.

The two battled for a third time in the WNBA on Sunday in an epic clash that came down to the wire. After losing the previous two games to the Fever, the Sky finally came out on top in an 88-87 victory.

Reese got the better of Clark this time around by scoring a career-high 25 points with 16 rebounds. Regardless of the outcome, every basketball fan should consider it a win that the WNBA is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Flair hopped on social media to share his take on the rivalry.

“I’m Sitting Here Enjoying The Competition Between @CaitlinClark22
and @Reese10Angel,” Flair posted. “…Congratulations For Stealing The Show, Stealing My Attention, And I’m Sure So Many People Around The World’s Attention! So Proud Of You Both And All You Women!”

The unifying tone of Flair’s comments turned heads on social media. One fan said, “I didn’t have Ric Flair uniting the nation on my 2024 bingo card.”

Another fan commented, “This deserves 50k likes, so well said!”

One fan posted a GIF telling the professional wrestling legend to “preach.”

Another fan said, “Ric Flair has spoken. Whooo!”

“Epic Tweet! WOOOOOOOOOOO,” one fan posted.

Clark only finished the game with 17 points, but she still managed to grab a double-double with 13 assists. It was an incredible performance on both ends from two young players who could end up serving as the faces of the WNBA for years to come.

There’s nothing wrong with picking sides, but it’s also good to take a step back and appreciate the impact the rivalry is having on women’s basketball overall.

Reese and Clark’s paths will cross again on August 30 at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, where the Sky will try to even the regular season series meetings between the two teams.
