It felt like years already since the disastrous Oscar slap happened, and yet, a lot of people are still talking about it, or at least, comedian Rob Schneider who recently expressed an opinion. As a refresher, Will Smith slapped Chris Rock live on television after the latter made an insensitive joke about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s alopecia.

On the same night, Smith received an Oscar for Best Actor, but that would be his last appearance in the event after he was given a ten-year ban. The actor has publicly apologized to Rock, and after staying out of the spotlight for a while, he’s already back in business, so why are people still talking about the issue?

Rob Schneider Blasted Will Smith For Slapping Chris Rock At The Academy Awards

In an episode of The Kyle & Jackie O Show, comedian Rob Schneider, who is friends with Chris Rock, spoke about the incident that took place in March 2022.

He didn’t want to talk to anybody. I don’t blame him. But it took him a while to get to a point where he could react to it because it was a lot. He’s a very sensitive, great guy, and he’s literally a genius.

Schneider went on his tirade against Will Smith and claimed the actor has been hiding his true identity as an “a—hole”. He seemed very angry about what happened to Rock and said that fateful night at the Oscars exposed Smith. “It’s a deep, dark thing to do that in front of all those people and to a really great, legendary comedian who’s literally the best comedian of our generation,” he added.

The comedian was forbidden to speak about the incident at the time because he is part of the Academy Awards committee.

That’s how politically correct the Academy is, that they were so cowardly. The point is, violence is what it is. And whether the color of your skin or your religion, it doesn’t matter. If you commit a crime in front of other people, you get hauled out of there.

Smith faced a ten-year ban from all events of the Academy, but a week before the disciplinary actions were announced, he already resigned as part of the committee.

Two years have passed since the scandalous slap happened. Smith already took responsibility and publicly apologized to Rock. The latter has also addressed the controversy through his Netflix stand-up special, Selective Outrage.

For the netizens, Schneider discussing it again and blatantly criticizing Smith for what he did two years ago somewhat felt unnecessary. Check out their tweets below:

It seems like fans no longer have the energy to hear any more remarks about the infamous slap. The incident will forever be there as it has been recorded and posted online for people to look back to in the future, but many have also moved on from it.
