Hideo Kojima is the legendary Japanese video game developer known for creating several brilliant video games like Death StrandingMetal Gear, and many more. Yet the video game developer has a great affinity to movies and is often seen praising one or the other. Famous for his one-word remarks about movies that he abhorred, Kojima recently wrote a long paragraph on George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

A prequel to the Oscar-winning Fury Road, the movie has so far been struggling to make ends meet at the global box office. As it drags itself across the box office, Kojima’s spectacular review might be the only chance the movie has got.

Hideo Kojima is always ready to share his thoughts and opinions about the movies he has watched. Often on his official X account, the Japanese video game designer shares rave reviews about movies he loved and often one-word reviews about the movies that failed to meet his expectations.

With George Miller‘s Furiosa in theatres, it was but expected that Kojima would react to the film. The prequel to the critically acclaimed Mad Max: Fury Road has been quite literally crawling across the box office and has so far failed to come equal to its production budget of $168 million (via Deadline).

In his most recent tweet, Kojima shared photos of himself at the theatre and his blue-ray purchases and wrote,

Saw Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga in IMAX for the third time. Bought 3 booklets. The chase scene with Octoboss (the name is like MGS). It still makes me roar no matter how many times I see it. The rhythm of the movement and the attacks backwards, forwards, under the truck, in the air and on the truck, the direction, and the camera.

In his long review, he went on to state how he loved the many action sequences and called it no less than an art, Kojima added at the end.

Only George could have done such a complex one-shot. Sigh. I’m going to see it again, not in IMAX, but in CinemaScope, and then the Japanese dubbed version.

With critics like Kojima praising the movie, it is for sure that some fans would be driven to watch it and might potentially save the Mad Max franchise. A sincere and determined effort by Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy, Kojima’s review proves it is no less than the Oscar-winning Fury Road despite being a prequel.

Fans have always gotten a kick out of Hideo Kojima’s reviews for movies, and many value his opinion in high regard. So, as Furiosa struggles to reach the break-even point (see Deadline), it is highly possible that fans would be driven to watch the film after his review.

As his words went viral, this is how fans reacted on the internet.

As several fans agreed with Hideo Kojima and his opinion on Furiosa, some also exclaimed that they would be watching the movie after all. As die-hard fans of the franchise hope the movie can at least recover its production cost, Kojima’s review will certainly have an impact, even if it’s a small one on the franchise.
