Most would agree that the rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese is exactly what the WNBA needed.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is part of that majority; however, the way Reese has been downplaying the bad blood between herself and Clark seems to have rubbed him the wrong way.

During a recent appearance on the “Pat Bev Podcast,” Portnoy explained that fans are captivated by Clark and that Reese should embrace her role as the villain in Clark’s story rather than pretend like there is no story.

“I would respect and like Angel more if she just ate it, if she was just like, ‘You know what, I f—ing hate her and I’m going to go at her and make my mission to make her life miserable,’” Portnoy said. “But she doesn’t do that, she acts that way and acts like people are making it up.

“Well, you did the lambada when she got cheap shotted, you [taunted her for not winning a national title] in college, you’ve done one thing after another and then you’re like, ‘No, I like Caitlin Clark.’ I like her teammate more who actually hit and was like, ‘Yeah, I don’t like her.’ I respect that. It’s the back-and-forth that drives me nuts with her.”

Clark’s Indiana Fever and Reese’s Chicago Sky have played each other three times this season, and each game has been must-see television.

The Fever won the first two matchups, with Clark getting shoved to the floor by Reese’s teammate Chennedy Carter in the first one and Reese hitting Clark in the head as she drove to the basket in the other.

However, the Sky took the most recent meeting, pulling off a 15-point comeback to win 88-87 on Sunday. Clark not taking the final shot in that game, and her subsequent disagreement with Fever head coach Christie Sides following the final whistle, has made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
