The Indiana Fever were tripped up Sunday night by the Chicago Sky on the road, as they fell prey to Angel Reese and company, 88-87.

The loss to Chicago left the Fever with some questions, among which was Clark’s usage down the stretch.

Despite being Indiana’s most dangerous offensive weapon, Clark took only two shots in the last eight minutes of regulation. After making a 3-pointer with 7:12 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Clark took just one more shot – a missed attempt from behind the arc with a little over two minutes to go in the contest.

Due to the tight nature of the ball game in the final minutes, many believed Clark should have tried to take over the game by being aggressive in hunting for shots instead of looking for ways to involve her teammates.

Her lack of shots toward the end of the game led to several people online comparing her with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, who is also known for operating that way in such situations.

“Caitlin Clark is having the problem LeBron had midway into his career: She’s making passes that are smart decisions, but at some point you’ve just gotta say ‘I’m the best player on the floor, I’m taking over.’”

“I see Caitlin Clark is getting the LeBron criticism from more than a few people. Lol she made the right play by passing the ball to Aliyah Boston. Taking a contested jumper with two people in your face isn’t “killer mentality.” It’s dumb basketball. She played smart.”

“I pray that the debate shows tomorrow will give some time to the Sky/Fever GAME. Maybe “what did Angel & Caitlin bothshow you?” And/or discuss Caitlin not getting the shot w/the game on the line. (They’d ask it for LeBron). If they can discuss controversy, they can discuss THIS.”

“Good lord, Caitlin, don’t pass the ball there. #LeBron”

“The way people were talking about Caitlin Clark’s 4th quarter I thought she went full Kobe where he just refused to shoot to prove a point. I think it’s way more Lebron when he used to just always make the “right” pass.”

“I have seen this story before with Lebron. Caitlin Clark makes the right basketball play every time. She should have 21 assists. Sometimes you have to forgo that and just kill. Her coach ain’t set her up to do that yet… but it’s coming.”

Clark finished the Sky game with 17 points, 13 assists, six rebounds and four steals.
