Former Iowa Hawkeyes Caitlin Clark and Kate Martin have one of the most wholesome relationships in the entire WNBA.

The two rookies were the best of friends during their time at Iowa. And although they’re no longer teammates, Clark has mentioned a few different times that her and Martin still keep in contact on a daily basis.

Both Clark and Martin had WNBA games on Thursday, with Martin’s Aces facing Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky and Clark’s Fever facing the Seattle Storm on the road.

Clark spoke with media before her Fever game. And she made a few notable remarks about Martin.

When asked about Martin’s start to her career, Clark said, “What everybody else sees in her, that’s what I’ve seen in her for a really long time. And I’m just really happy for her.”

After that statement, Clark added that, “And obviously I wish she was still my teammate.”

It makes a lot of sense that Clark would want one of her best friends (and an excellent teammate) on her Indiana Fever roster.

Perhaps trading for Martin is a move that the Fever could make to keep Clark happy at some point down the line.
