"Shattered Glass: A WNBPA Story" New York PremiereNneka Ogqumike will miss her second straight game for the Seattle Storm

The Seattle Storm has just won one of their first three games of the 2024 WNBA season, and they will need the services of Nneka Ogwumike when they face the New York Liberty at the Barclays Center on Monday.

However, the eight-time WNBA All-Star will miss the game against the Liberty. Ogwumike has been nursing an ankle injury and has not recovered yet.

This will be the second straight game that Ogwumike will miss after being scratched by the Storm against the Washington Mystics on Sunday.

There is still no specific timeline for when she will return to the team’s roster. Nika Muhl is also not playing against the Liberty as she is out due to personal reasons.

Mercedes Russell replaced Ogwumike in the Storm’s starting roster against the Mystics and she should get to start again in this game. She had eight points, five rebounds and two steals in almost 30 minutes of action on Sunday.

Nneka Ogwumike’s stats so far this 2024 WNBA season

After being with the LA Sparks for 12 years since coming to the WNBA in 2012, Nneka Ogwumike is wearing a different color this season with the Seattle Storm. After the first two games of the season, the former league MVP is out with an ankle injury but it is not said to be long-term.

In just the two games she played, Ogwumike’s presence with the Storm has been great, as she averaged a double-double of 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds. She also shot the ball well, scoring 60.0% from the field and 87.5% from the free throw line.

In the first game against the Minnesota Lynx, Ogwumike had 20 points, nine rebounds and two steals while shooting 10-of-18 from the field.

In the Storm’s next encounter with the Lynx, Ogwumike logged 24 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, one assist and one block. However, even with the statistical performances, the Storm are 0-2 with her.

After the game against the New York Liberty, the Seattle Storm will have one day of rest before heading to the Gainbridge Fieldhouse to face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Wednesday.
