Aliyah Boston and Jonquel Jones get into an altercation.
In just the second game of the 2024 WNBA season for the Indiana Fever, Aliyah Boston is already getting into it with her opponents. Boston had an altercation with New York Liberty forward Jonquel Jones as the season had just started for both teams.
The home opener for the Fever was off to a flying start as fans flocked to the arena on Thursday. Fans were locked in on watching their home team play as they have the top pick in Caitlin Clark out of Iowa. But her more experienced teammate, Boston, put on an intense persona in the first quarter.
Aliyah Boston was at the post and did a few head fakes on Jones. Eventually, she was fouled by New York’s forward, but the two got tangled up. The Fever forward didn’t back down as she pushed, starting a shoving match between the two. The Liberty forward had some words for the Indiana player as their teammates had to separate them from each other.

Luckily, the situation didn’t escalate into something bigger and the two walked away from each other as their teammates tried to calm them down.
Aliyah Boston mentors Clark in her first game
For a rookie in any league, having a veteran player on their side is important. That’s exactly what Clark needed during her first game in the WNBA as she struggled to make consistent shots during the game. Luckily, Aliyah Boston was there to guide her and help her handle her struggles on the floor.
As they made their way to the locker room at halftime, Boston was seen by the fans talking intensely to the rookie. She was coaching Clark on what to do on the floor as the frustration from the defense was getting to the point guard.
Despite only being a sophomore, Boston is showing how she’s grown after one season in the professional league. Fans loved how the forward was willing to teach the younger star the ropes early in her career.
Clark did score 20 points, but she did it inefficiently and shot 36.4% from beyond the arc. She also had ten turnovers during the game. Still, having Boston as her mentor could play a significant role in her rookie year as many expect her to have a great campaign.
