Phoenix Mercury v Las Vegas AcesFans react to Las Vegas giving Aces players $100k sponsorship each

The Las Vegas Aces have just received major sponsorship from the WNBA city they represent. The city isn’t shy in sharing its support to the reigning champions. In honor of how well the team has played in the past two seasons, the city has decided to give each player on the team monetary sponsorship for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The Aces are on a mission to win their third title in a row with their current group. The last time a team won three consecutive years was during the first four years of the league. It happened from 1997 until 2000 when the Houston Comets dominated the league and won four straight titles.

Now, the city is showing each player how valuable they are, with the individual sponsorship worth $100,000. Steve Hill and the leaders from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority visited the Aces in their locker room to present their offer.

“Today we want to do something that is new, something that I don’t think anyone has done before. We want to recognize you individually, we want to put some money in your pockets,” Hill, the president and CEO of the agency and also chairman of the Las Vegas Stadium Authority said.

“The offer is really simple: We want you to just play, keep repping Las Vegas and if you get a three-peat, that would be icing on the cake.”

The players were surprised with the offer and couldn’t contain their happiness with the sponsorship. Fans also shared their thoughts on this incredible gesture.

“Rookies are probably in heaven,” one fan said.

“Kate Martin really won the lottery with her being drafted to Vegas,” one fan pointed out.

“1st their own ACE’S facility and now this,” this fan was surprised with the sponsorship.

There were a few fans who had different thoughts on the matter.

“Great for the girls. Terrible for the city,” a fan said.

“Happy for the players, but if this is tax payer money,” another fan has different thoughts on the matter.

“Imagine your tax dollars going toward a wnba player salary,” this fan wasn’t happy with the news.

Who are the top earners in the Las Vegas Aces?

The salary of the championship core of A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young and Alysha Clark doesn’t compare to an average NBA contract. Altogether, they earn a total of $876,217. As per Spotrac, here’s what the Las Vegas Aces top earners’ salaries.

Both Plum and Wilson are the top earners with a $200,000 salary. As compared to the top earners, their rookies, Kate Martin and Dyaisha Fair both earn $67,249. Therefore, the additional $100k bonus from LVCVA is a significant financial commitment for each player.
