Anna Wintour’s recent comments have sparked rumors that Taylor Swift might make an appearance at the Met Gala, the annual event often referred to as ‘fashion’s biggest night out.’

In a one-on-one interview, Jenna Bush Hager spoke with Vogue’s global editorial director and later shared with her Today show cohosts that she inquired about the 34-year-old singer’s presence at the event. Jenna, 42, mentioned her daughter’s curiosity, saying: ‘I also had to ask, because Mila Hager asked if Taylor was gonna be there, and she (Anna) said, “I hope she comes and enjoys the exhibit.”’

Jenna noted that Anna’s response was ambiguous, adding, ‘So that could be yes, that could be no, which is what the reports are sort of saying.’ Her cohosts, including Hoda Kotb, Savannah Guthrie, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin, seemed intrigued by the conversation. Hoda, 59, playfully complimented Jenna’s accent, while Sheinelle, 46, who plans to attend the Met Gala, expressed her excitement.

During the interview, Jenna also questioned Anna about the rumored exclusion of chives, onion, and garlic from the gala’s menu. Anna confirmed with a smile, ‘Those are three things I’m not particularly fond of, and so yes, that’s true.’

Anna acknowledged some ‘confusion’ regarding this year’s theme, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ and admitted it broke her ‘cardinal rule.’ She explained, ‘We came up with the title Sleeping Beauties. It’s wonderful, it’s poetic, its romantic, but actually it could be many, many things.’ She suggested that the theme, along with the ‘Garden of Time’ dress code, might have sent mixed messages, saying, ‘I fear we have unleashed a lot of confusion out there for which I deeply apologize.’

When discussing her feelings before the Met Gala, Anna stated, ‘It’s relatively quiet. Everything is in the details. We plan these exhibitions in the evening so far in advance that if we’re not relatively calm in this point, we’re in big, big trouble.’ Reports last week indicated that Taylor and her boyfriend, football player Travis Kelce, would not attend the gala.

Additionally, TMZ reported earlier in April that both Taylor and Travis, 34, would be absent from the gala, though they have not publicly stated their reasons for not attending.
