Is Aliyah Boston playing tonight against the Connecticut Sun?
The Fever are 0-3 to start the campaign despite having the last two first overall picks in the draft. Boston has had a slow start to the season, averaging 9.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She’s shooting just 38.7% from the field in three contests.
Boston won the Rookie of the Year award last season after putting up 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. She was a dominant player, especially on the defensive end, but she hasn’t found her rhythm this season.
What happened to Aliyah Boston?
Aliyah Boston was extremely durable during her rookie campaign with the Indiana Fever. She played all 40 regular season games last season despite the Fever finishing with a 13-27 record. It meant that Indiana missed their seventh straight postseason.
As for the Fever’s injury report for tonight’s matchup against the Connecticut Sun, only one player won’t be suiting up. Damiris Dantas remains out due to a knee injury and is on a suspended contract. The WNBA allows the suspension of contracts in case of an injury.
Aliyah Boston comments on what’s missing with the Fever to start the season
Following the Indiana Fever’s 102-66 loss to the New York Liberty in their second game of the season, there was plenty of chatter about the team’s coach. There were also some shots directed at Caitlin Clark, but people forget that there’s a reason why the Fever ended up with the first overall pick.
The Fever were one of the worst teams last season, so to expect them to play like world-beaters in the first week of the new campaign sounds far-fetched. Aliyah Boston commented on what was missing from the Fever, including communication on both ends of the floor.
“Some teams that you know they’re veterans and they have that connection and they know exactly what they’re doing, you know? Our communication on that end definitely just has to increase, especially when we were playing teams that know each other like the back of their hands. And they’re making the back door cuts and their post like tonight.
“They both can pop and shoot the three, and so definitely just amping up our communication on that end and probably stop fouling,” Boston said.
Aliyah Boston and the Indiana Fever bounced back in their third game against the same New York Liberty team that demolished them. The Fever still lost 91-80.
