Oscar-winning actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph has officially joined the cast of A24’s highly anticipated romantic comedy “Eternity.” Directed by David Freyne, known for his work on “Dating Amber” and “The Curse,” the film also stars Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”), and Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air”).

While specific plot details are being kept under wraps, “Eternity” is described as a romantic comedy centered around characters grappling with the ultimate question of who they want to spend eternity with. The screenplay, written by Patrick Cunnane—who gained recognition for his work on “Designated Survivor”—was featured on the 2022 Black List, highlighting the industry’s most promising unproduced scripts.

A24 is financing the film, with Trevor White and Tim White of Star Thrower Entertainment serving as producers. Additionally, Teller and Olsen are set to take on executive producer roles. Production is slated to begin in the summer of 2024.

Randolph’s career has been on an impressive trajectory. She first garnered widespread attention with her Tony-nominated performance as Oda Mae Brown in the Broadway adaptation of “Ghost: The Musical.” This led to notable film roles, including appearances in “Dolemite Is My Name” alongside Eddie Murphy and “The Lost City” with Sandra Bullock. Her portrayal of a grieving cafeteria manager in Alexander Payne’s “The Holdovers” earned her critical acclaim and an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Aside from her recent Oscar win, Randolph is also vying for her first Emmy nomination for her role as Detective Donna Williams in Hulu’s popular series “Only Murders in the Building.” She will next be seen in Lionsgate’s “Shadow Force,” directed by Joe Carnahan and starring Kerry Washington.
