Amazon has officially ordered a pilot for the upcoming marching band dramedy “Band,” created by Daniel and Ben Barnz. Known for their work on “Generation,” the married duo is set to bring another compelling story to the screen, this time focusing on the dynamics of a high school marching band.

Leading the ensemble cast are Chanté Adams (“A Man in Full”) and John Benjamin Hickey, (“Pitch Perfect”). They are joined by Miguel Ángel Garcia, Henry Hunter Hall, Lynley Eilers, and Alex Fitzalan.

“Band” delves into the lives of a diverse group of teenagers as they navigate the complexities of adolescence within the framework of their school’s marching band. Garcia plays the star player Axel, with Eilers as his loyal best friend Sasha, Fitzalan as the alluring newcomer Simon, and Hall as the heartthrob drummer Evan. Hickey takes on the role of the fearless band leader Cole, with Adams as his right-hand, Zadie.

The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with David Stone of Framework Collective also serving as an executive producer. Daniel Barnz will direct the pilot and act as the showrunner, continuing his collaboration with his husband Ben Barnz under their production company, We’re Not Brothers.

“Generation,” Daniel Barnz’s previous project, aired for a supersized season on Max and featured a notable cast including Justice Smith and Nava Mau. This new venture, “Band,” aims to build on the success of “Generation” by exploring themes of unity, belonging, and the challenges of coming of age in a high school setting.

With “Band,” Daniel and Ben Barnz continue their tradition of creating compelling, character-driven narratives that resonate with audiences. This new series is poised to be a vibrant addition to Amazon’s lineup, offering a heartfelt look at the trials and triumphs of adolescence through the unique lens of a high school marching band.
