ESPN has announced the signing of former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce to a multi-year deal.
Kelce, who spent 13 years in the NFL and won a Super Bowl in 2018, is considered a shoo-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But in the meantime, he will join ‘Monday Night Countdown’ before ‘Monday Night Football’ every week and will team up with Scott Van Pelt and Ryan Clark during halftime.
ESPN’s parent company, Disney, made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, noting Kelce will also be on Super Bowl coverage every year, including in 2027, when the game will air on ESPN and ABC from Los Angeles.
The network will also allow Kelce scope to broaden his horizons within the company.
“Additional postseason studio appearances will occur annually, including during the NFL’s Conference Championship weekend,” Disney disclosed. “Further opportunities will be explored.”
“Jason is a highly respected, Super Bowl Champion with a strong connection to fans,” ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus said.
“Walking off the field and immediately to ESPN, viewers will benefit from his perspective which has been shaped through his years as an established locker room leader and a future Hall of Fame center. Jason’s addition to Monday Night Countdown will greatly strengthen our NFL coverage.”
Jason Kelce Reacts To Joining ESPN
Jason Kelce, a six-time All-Pro, will join SVP, Clark, Marcus Spears, Adam Schefter, and Michelle Beisner-Buck on ‘Monday Night Countdown.’
He expressed his excitement about having joined The Worldwide Leader in Sports and described the appointment as a “full circle moment.”
“Turns out, it was a short retirement!” he said. “I’m excited to join ESPN, and particularly the Monday Night Countdown team. ESPN was a consistent presence in our household growing up and the network helped shape who I am and my love of all sports.
“To now appear on that same screen is a full circle moment. And, I mean it’s freaking Monday Night Football! and I’m ready for some football.”
Following a remarkable career with the Eagles, Jason is now set to take his infectious personality to television. He is expected to continue his successful ‘New Heights’ podcast alongside his brother Travis Kelce.
