Princess Kate and Prince Louis of Wales during Trooping the Colour

Royal fans were thrilled as Kate Middleton made a return to duties at Trooping the Colour last weekend – but her appearance has left people in stitches as they spotted what appeared to be a familiar face in her carriage

Kate Middleton left royal fans delighted as she attended the Trooping the Colour last week (June 15).

The Princess of Wales thrilled people across the world as she made her first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis back in March. Donning what has been dubbed a ‘My Fair Lady-inspired outfit’, the 42-year-old cut a regal figure as she grinned from her carriage on the way to Buckingham Palace for the annual Red Arrows flypast.

But the last thing anyone expected to see was actress “Miriam Margolyes” in the Princess’s carriage. Brits have been left in stitches after a snap was shared to X (formerly Twitter) showing the Princess waving to the crowds while travelling in her carriage.

But thanks to the lighting, Prince Louis managed to look just like the British-Australian star as he was spotted staring out of the window in the corner of the picture.

The image was shared by Shane Reaction alongside the caption: “Can’t stop thinking about the reflection in this picture making it look like Miriam Margolyes has just woken up in the back of Kate Middleton’s carriage.”

The post had been liked more 17,000 times at the time of writing, and it has left people in hysterics. Social media users were quick to make jokes, with some saying it’s the “scariest” thing they’ve ever seen.

One person wrote: “That’s how you know it was a good night out.” Another added: “I can hear her now… ‘sorry I just farted’.”

A third replied: “This actually made me LOL and I never write LOL.” Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: “I would pay a lot to see the Netflix series based on this tweet.”

Princess Kate brought warmth and joy to the nation as she waved from the Buckingham Palace balcony for the first time in six months during last weekend’s Trooping the Colour.

Even though the Princess of Wales’s glorious comeback doesn’t signal a full return to royal duties, it offered the public a great lift and also worked to highlight the unity of the royal family. The future Queen stunned as she wore a recycled monochrome Jenny Packham dress, Jimmy Choo heels, a matching Philip Treacy hat and Mulberry clutch.

Prior to the event she issued an update on her recovery following speculation she might miss the celebration. She said: “I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting.

“But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.”
