Angel Reese is being pointed out as the new WNBA villain

Angel Reese took to X to express her concern and wish Brink a swift recovery.

“Prayers for my sweet girl! @cameronbrink22,” she wrote.

The incident occurred with the Sun leading 9-5 and 6:23 remaining in the first quarter. Cameron Brink was driving to the basket against Sun forward Brionna Jones when she stepped awkwardly and fell to the floor in pain.

“In-game injury update: Cameron Brink left the game in the 1st quarter, and will not return (knee),” the LA Sparks noted.

She immediately grabbed her left knee and struggled to stand, prompting the team staff to assist her off the court. The Sparks later confirmed Brink‘s knee injury, ruling her out for the remainder of the game, which the Sun won 79-70.

Faced each other once

Reese and Brink have played against each other once this WNBA season, in a game that saw the Chicago Sky win 83-73.

In that matchup, Reese scored six points and grabbed six rebounds, while Brink contributed seven points and six rebounds.

Both players are considered among the top rookies in the WNBA, along with Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, for their ability to attract fans to the games.
