Caitlin Clark speaks up about Angel Reese’s flagrant foul on her
The 2024 number one overall pick Caitlin Clark was once again on the receiving end of a hard foul, this time in the second clash between Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky.
On this occasion, the foul came from fellow rookie Angel Reese who inadvertently hit Clark while she was going for a lay-up.
As usual, Clark chalked up the hard foul from Reese to being just another basketball play, like most of the physical plays she has been receiving since entering the WNBA.
According to ESPN’s Stephen Holder, this is what Clark had to say regarding the matter.
“Just a part of basketball. It is what it is,” Caitlin Clark said. “Trying to make a play on the ball, get the block. It happens.”
Unlike the foul that was committed by Chennedy Carter during the June 1 matchup between Sky and the Fever, this play was immediately assessed as a flagrant one.
Ironically, this play looks more like a basketball play compared to the one Carter committed. In fact, Clark herself said that it was not a basketball play as Carter walked up to her while her back was turned and then bodied her while the ball was yet to be inbounded.
However, that foul was only upgraded to a flagrant one after the game had already concluded.
Meanwhile, this foul from Reese can easily be considered as one player simply trying to make a play on the ball but accidentally striking an opposing player.

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever go up 2-0 against the Chicago Sky for the season
The Chicago Sky were hungry for revenge as they lost their June 1 contest against the Fever by only one point (71-70). However, Caitlin Clark did everything in her power to make sure that her team would continue to hold an advantage over the Sky.
Clark scored a game-high 23 points on a 7-for-11 shooting clip (3-for-7 from the three-point line). She also nearly registered a triple-double as she had nine assists as well as eight rebounds.
Although Clark struggled with turnovers once again (five TOs), her scoring and playmaking were instrumental in helping the Fever secure the victory.
This is the first time this season that the Fever are entering a winning streak of sorts. They won their previous matchup against the Atlanta Dream 91-84 which makes this their first two-game win streak of the 2024 season.
The Sky and the Fever are set to take on each other two more times this season, with the first taking place on June 23 and the final one set to take place on August 30.
