Seattle Storm v Las Vegas AcesKelsey Plum’s pre-game team jig sets the tone for struggling Aces ahead of Lynx clash

Kelsey Plum’s pre-game tunnel jig set the tone for the Las Vegas Aces as they look to get back to winning ways against a formidable unit in the Minnesota Lynx. The Aces are coming off two consecutive losses to the LA Sparks and the Seattle Storm, and a loss on Tuesday night would peg them to exactly .500 which is a very rare occurrence for the team.

However, the team appeared to be loose and in good spirits ahead of the clash. Leading the way was Plum with a fun jig that had her teammates cheering and whooping ahead of tip-off.

At the time of writing, the Aces trail the Lynx 59-48 at halftime. A’ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum led LV with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The Lynx were led by Alanna Smith’s 13 points and veteran Kayla McBride’s 14 points.

How has Kelsey Plum fared for the Aces so far this season?

Kelsey Plum and the Aces have had to maintain their offense in the absence of Chelsea Gray and that meant the guard has had to shuttle between point and shooting guard duties this season. In the nine games played so far, the 2x WNBA champion has been averaging 19.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 4.9 assists.

The Aces offense has been their most potent weapon. Last season, A’ja Wilson and guards Gray, Jackie Young, and Plum averaged double-figure scoring, led by Wilson’s 22.8 points per game. With Gray sidelined, Wilson, Young and Plum are all averaging at least 18 points per game.

All four of the Aces’ stars will suit up for Team USA alongside seasoned names in Napheesa Collier, Brittney Griner, Kahleah Copper, Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Alyssa Thomas and Diana Taurasi.

The lead-up to the 2024 WNBA season was a rather tumultuous one for Plum as she applied for a divorce from NY Giants tight-end Darren Waller who quit football soon after.

Earlier this April, the 29-year-old and Waller filed a joint petition for divorce in Clark County, Nevada. Soon after, the guard shared a gutting message on Instagram. Just after the filing, Plum shared a heartbreaking message on social media.

“I’m devastated. I walked through fire for that man, but now I see it’s time to go. God has given me an incredible life, and I’m truly so grateful for the profound love from my family and friends.”

The focus now for Kelsey Plum and the rest of the Aces is to defend their title, and only time will tell if they can make it three-peat.
