Water main break disrupts concerts and more
Atlanta residents’ patience is growing thin.
Late on Friday, May 31, the City of Atlanta confirmed a third main water break occurred within 10 hours. As of the morning of June 1, watershed management is still working to repair the breaks. The break impacted many people in the downtown Atlanta area, and most notably, postponed Megan Thee Stallion‘s concert with GloRilla opening at State Farm Arena.
“I’m extremely disappointed because I had a huge surprise for the Hotties tonight, but we will follow the Mayor’s protocol,” Thee Stallion posted on X, formerly known as Twitter on May 31. “Tonight’s show is rescheduled for this Sunday, June 2, 2024.
“We will still move forward with tomorrow’s show.
“Look forward to seeing my Atlanta Hotties at the #hotgirlsummertour.”
Unfortunately, we will need to reschedule tonight’s show at State Farm Arena due to the massive water main break that The City of Atlanta is experiencing 🥺

Residents and fans alike began to lose patience.
“Aye, figure this out, @CityofAtlanta,” @DntBurnYaBridge posted on X, “cause I’m tryna see @theestallion tomorrow.”
Other comments included people who said they needed to take care of loved ones with special hygiene needs and others who wanted to complete normal every day tasks that includes basic indoor plumbing. While angry about the water situation, other citizens reminded city officials funds could have gone to prevent incidents like this instead of using millions of dollars to build the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, also known as “Cop City.” Protestors were upset at the approval of the public safety training center being built because in the face of the public calling for more police reform in 2020, the city decided to put more money and resources into law enforcement. This training center is supposed to have a mock city where officers can simulate how they would handle a mass protest in the city, thus allowing the protestors and the public to give it the nickname “Cop City.”
